About Us

The formal inauguration of NIEDS was done on 14.04.2008 at Christ College (Irinjalakuda, (Thrissur District, Kerala) auditorium by the then Governor of Kerala honourable Sri. R L Bhatia. On that occasion it was proclaimed ‘Early detection of Cancer leading to easy cure’ as its major mission for the initial three years.

The major objective of NIEDS is the tangible qualitative transformation of the life of the underprivileged in the society. NIEDS functions on the basis of investigative projects on diverse social issues. A committed group of personalities from all walks of life helps in identifying the areas and warrants NIEDS intervention and solutions. The solutions are arrived through qualitative and quantitative surveys, case-studies and meta analysis with time bound intervention programs. Various evaluation strategies are adopted for the effective management of the programs. The outcomes are measured against the objectives and set parameters of the program to have a clear impact evaluation.

Under the expert guidance of former MLA and Chief Whip of the State of Kerala (India), Mr. Thomas Unniyadan at the helm as the President, NIEDS functions from the Municipal Complex building, Irinjalakuda P.O, Thrissur District, Kerala, India.

NIEDS was founded by a group of people from diverse professions (Professors, Teachers and Advocates) including the current President. The founding members’ close contact and understanding of the society has immensely helped NIEDS to have clear objectives as elucidated in the MOA.

Having completed 10 eventful years adhering to the founding principles, NIEDS continues to venture into areas where support and service to the people and communities are neglected or overlooked.
